  • Flashblock, Mozilla Firefox: A Firefox add-on. It blocks Macromedia Flash/Shockwav e/authorware, and - I don't know if this is true for everyone, but - on my machine it blocks embedded YouTube videos (thank you!). If you then choose to load the video, you can end the block by just clicking the placeholder.

  • Interclue, Mozilla Firefox: "Ever wanted to know what was behind the link before you clicked? Interclue tells you everything you need to know before you open yet another tab." I've been using this for a few days now and it's fantastic - especially helpful for links in microblog updates (where it's more likely people won't explain what they're linking to). I just used it while browsing my Identica timeline and three times it was unnecessary to open a new link because Interclue' ;s preview showed the whole text. Excellent value, especially if you're on a slow connection and trying to save time or to limit downloads. (615 kB)
