Digital Compression? A Basic Definition
A technique that enables a given message, such as a television picture, to be converted from an analogue signal to a digitized code of data that occupies a smaller amount of transmission capacity than the original analogue signal. This technique can effectively increase the amount of usable spectrum currently allocated and expand the number of available channels on cable TV systems.
